Name: Moyraa Ali Codename: Beta Test Age: 17 Role: Team Manager, Builder, Mechanical Technician Interests: Drawing, Sketching, Woodworking, Crafts, and Swimming Reasons for being on the Team: I love building and problem solving. Building a robot with friends was the best way to do that.
Bio: Moyraa is involved in many different things in addition to robotics. She is heavily involved in swimming and skiing, and is also a big part of Science Olympiad, stage crew, and mock trial club. In her free time, Moyraa is a volunteer for the urgent care facility near her house. She also works at Cold Stone, an ice cream shop. In her free time, if she manages to find any, she adores sketching and painting pictures, playing D&D with her friends, and tutoring her friend in French. Engineering and Science are a big part of Moyraa’s life, as she plans on going into either of the fields in her future. She is in robotics, because she wants more practice with engineering and just adores working with robots. They interest her, because she is very intrigued by the idea of electrical impulses making a piece of machinery do something, and thinks it is probably one of the coolest things she has ever seen. Favorite Memory: "My favorite memory is absolutely when Veronica and I were messing around with our friend Mal. I messaged her saying that the robot is alive and that it was trying to kill us. She was so confused and worried, and it went on for a while, and I was telling her things like ‘it’s attacking us!’ and ‘it’s saying some really weird things…’. She ended up messaging Veronica on Snapchat and she had NO IDEA what was going on. Mal asked Veronica what was happening and Veronica simply said ‘oh nothing’ and took a photo of me acting normal. Eventually, Veronica started to play along and Mal was SO CONFUSED that eventually we felt bad and decided to tell her that it was a joke. Mal didn’t think it was funny at the time, but now we all laugh way too much about it. This is my favorite memory, because I really like how our team has a good sense of humor and they all are really funny, which makes robotics even more fun than it is! Which is near impossible to do."
Name: Arianna Larsen Codename: Fixer Age: 16 Role: Electrical Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, CAD and Programming Interests: Arts and crafts, taking care of animals, reading Reasons for being on the Team: Loves the hands-on aspect of FTC and working with 3D printing.
Bio: Arianna, outside of robotics, is involved in multiple clubs. Some of these clubs are Philomusica(orchestra club), 4-H, Book Club, and Colorguard. In her free time, she enjoys making multiple types of art. She enjoys making jewelry, creating clay sculptures, painting nature scenes, and drawing dragons. In the Summer, she likes horseback riding. Arianna likes FIRST because of the hands-on opportunities it offers her, such as building the robot or creating prototypes. She loves building things, both using power tools and 3D designing in CAD. She is also interested in designing different things for the robot and prototyping them. As she was in FLL first, Arianna was able to learn about FIRST and had a blast participating in it. Once she moved onto FTC, she was introduced to new ideas and was intrigued by it all, so much so, that she decided to join as a part of the engineers. Favorite Memory: "I really liked when I’m working with my teammates on designing the robot. I liked being able to work with my friends on things that challenged us. We worked together and used our combined work to figure out how things worked or how to get through problems. I learned that overall, five heads are better than one!"
Name: Cara Davis Codename: CADphile Age: 16 Role: CAD and Media Interests: Drawing, reading, hockey, and watching Youtube Reasons for being on the Team: I always love learning new things. Robots are really cool because you can change them and make them do new things.
Bio: ACara loves to draw, read, and play sports. Cara is part of a hockey team, called Lynx, as part of the defense. She is also an active member of Gsafe Club, Instrumental Studio, and Anime/Manga Club. FIRST has taught her many useful skills, such as time management skills, getting along with different types of people, and how to incorporate coopertition in daily life. Cara really likes to learn about programming and robotics, and finds it very interesting. Being on an FTC team gives her a chance to expand her knowledge about those topics. Favorite Memory: "My favorite memory is when we got the highest robot score in FLL when I was on the team Talon of the Wyvern. I just remember getting that score and having this sense of pride because all of the hard work that we put in really paid off, and it meant a lot. Seeing our name at the top of the list just made me smile and I felt really proud to be part of my team, and I felt so proud to know that I helped them get that score."
Name: Abbey Woldt Codename: Alpha (If there is a beta test, there must be an alpha test.) Age: 16 Role: Programmer, Mechanical Engineer Interests: Knitting, cooking, baking, and photography Reasons for being on the Team: Adores trying new things and adores engineering.
Bio: Abbey is an active member of Student Council, Astronomy Club, Chef Club, Photography Club, Colorguard, and many more clubs and organizations in addition to robotics. When she is not participating in her many organizations, she is at home knitting hats, scarves, and even sweaters. Along with knitting, she also loves to cook and bake various foods. Abbey is in her second year in the FIRST program, and is thrilled to be able to participate in it. She joined robotics because she finds them fascinating after taking a robotics class in 8th grade. Building robots and learning how they worked really intrigued her, and decided that she wanted to be more involved with robotics overall. She adores to build the robot and try new things such as programming or 3D printing. She loves Star Wars and loves this year’s theme. Favorite Memory: "I really liked when we were all working together on our projects and listening to Halloween music. We really seemed like a team and it just felt amazing to know that I am a part of this team. I really look forwards to making more memories with my new team!"
Name: Thomas Kurr Codename: Ziggy Age: 16 Role: Mechanical Engineer Interests: Gaming, watching Youtube, watching TV, Orchestra Reasons for being on the Team: Loves robots and working with programming and robotics
Bio: Outside of robotics, Thomas enjoys hanging out with his friends and playing video games with them on his Xbox. He also enjoys playing with his dogs and watching videos on Youtube. He is involved with Philomusica, an orchestra club that meets in the morning. Thomas really likes FIRST because he is able to learn about programming and building, because he finds those topics interesting. Robots are also an interesting thing to him, so working with them and on them is something that he enjoys. Favorite Memory: "I enjoyed working with Kraken Pinion on team strategy at the first Qualifier. We spent half-an-hour working on getting our autonomous programs to work together and figuring out the best strategy for driver control. It really paid off. We got the WI high score of 81 points."
