Name: Moyraa Ali
Codename: Beta Test
Age: 17
Role: Team Manager, Builder, Mechanical Technician
Interests: Drawing, Sketching, Woodworking, Crafts, and Swimming
Reasons for being on the Team: I love building and problem solving. Building a robot with friends was the best way to do that.
Bio: Moyraa is involved in many different things in addition to robotics. She is heavily involved in swimming and skiing, and is also a big part of Science Olympiad, stage crew, and mock trial club. In her free time, Moyraa is a volunteer for the urgent care facility near her house. She also works at Cold Stone, an ice cream shop. In her free time, if she manages to find any, she adores sketching and painting pictures, playing D&D with her friends, and tutoring her friend in French. Engineering and Science are a big part of Moyraa’s life, as she plans on going into either of the fields in her future. She is in robotics, because she wants more practice with engineering and just adores working with robots. They interest her, because she is very intrigued by the idea of electrical impulses making a piece of machinery do something, and thinks it is probably one of the coolest things she has ever seen.
Favorite Memory: "My favorite memory is absolutely when Veronica and I were messing around with our friend Mal. I messaged her saying that the robot is alive and that it was trying to kill us. She was so confused and worried, and it went on for a while, and I was telling her things like ‘it’s attacking us!’ and ‘it’s saying some really weird things…’. She ended up messaging Veronica on Snapchat and she had NO IDEA what was going on. Mal asked Veronica what was happening and Veronica simply said ‘oh nothing’ and took a photo of me acting normal. Eventually, Veronica started to play along and Mal was SO CONFUSED that eventually we felt bad and decided to tell her that it was a joke. Mal didn’t think it was funny at the time, but now we all laugh way too much about it. This is my favorite memory, because I really like how our team has a good sense of humor and they all are really funny, which makes robotics even more fun than it is! Which is near impossible to do."
